Vancouver Island

Victoria, BC is reminiscent of Paris.

I suddenly felt inspired to share a quiet post with some photos from this past month spent on Vancouver Island. We arrived in the autumn and were happy to find between light drizzling rain — the show of the glimmering sun. It always seems that way in Victoria, BC, where I have visited over the past 20 years, home to my son Stephan, daughter-in-law, Heather, and grandson Draeden.

I was this time able to spend almost a whole month, quite longer than I have spent in Victoria in some time. How grateful I am.

This trip, Lindsay and I made a trip up from Victoria to Comox to Qualicum Beach to Campbell River far north to Port Alice. We just missed the storm that left just after Halloween, and were able to stay overnight in Port Alice, where we also just missed the migrating whales outside the condo window.

On the way up north, we stayed with our friend, Margo, in Campbell River. In Comox, I took my camera up a winding road that outlined Kyo Beach and found many opportunities to take photographs. This place was so mystic. Even a wandering cat found its way to my pictures which mostly were of ocean, the rock guided path, and very large red maple leaves. 🍂

In Comox, we explored the Comox Gallery & Museum and local book shops, breaking our day up with sushi for lunch outside on a veranda, and hot cocoa in large mugs at a quaint Italian cafe.

Welcome to Comox Valley.

We rounded our trip off back at our new favorite boutique family style hotel in Victoria from where we explored Victoria — and I found more than one occasion while on a date at night with Lindsay in the city or strolling around the various areas during the day.

It was a magical trip. Words cannot convey my appreciation for Vancouver Island, but I hope these series of photographs may share some of my time so fondly spent.
