I am a self-taught painter and emerging photographer whose work is driven by color as a primary language of memory and emotion. Born in Morocco, I was immersed early in a culture where color is intrinsic to daily life—found in markets, architecture, textiles, and light. These formative experiences continue to inform my practice through bold palettes, rhythmic compositions, and an intuitive sense of movement.
My life and work have been shaped by years spent in France, Montreal, Miami, Las Vegas, and Vancouver Island, each location contributing new tonal and emotional layers. Painting emerged as a vital form of expression following my mother’s passing; my first portrait opened a space where grief, love, and intimacy could be explored through color. My approach draws on childlike freedom, always guided by intuition.
After four decades as a massage therapist, I am deeply attuned to the body, touch, and energy—sensibilities that inform my mark-making and composition. At 70, I consider my practice to be in an active and evolving phase, grounded in curiosity and openness.
My photographic work offers a complementary counterpoint. Working primarily in black and white street photography, I focus on fleeting gestures, light, shadow, and human presence. Photography distills moments to their essential drama and quiet intensity, revealing the poetry of everyday life.
